 Prices for most issue uniform items sold at Army & Air
Force Exchange Service military clothing sales stores will be decreasing
on October 1. The annual Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP) price
changes will go into effect and the overall prices for issue items will
drop by a little more than one percent. AAFES never makes a profit on DSCP
items since they're always sold at cost. So any price decreases, or
conversely increases, are determined by the DSCP and passed along to the
customers via AAFES stores. The DSCP is the sole military supply source
for issue merchandise. DSCP items sold by AAFES made up 57 percent of the
total MCSS' sales in fiscal year 2003. In addition to DSCP items, AAFES
offers higher-quality optional items in order to give customers more
choices. On the other end of the spectrum, AAFES offers Exchange Select
insignia products that sell for 30 to 60 percent less than name-brand
equivalents.
